Simplest Oven Cleaning-NonToxic Pantry Recipe

Dirty! Dirty! Such a Dirty Girl!
When I bought Buttercup three years ago the oven was filthy!! Like a good brand new homeowner I.......I left is absolutely disgusting for three years.  Eeeeewwwwww.  Saturday was the day to finally scrub the oven clean.  Here is the Simplest Oven Cleaning Recipe using all non-toxic ingredients from your well stocked pantry.

Get Started-
*Heat oven to 300 degrees
*Baking dish filled 1/3 way with water and 1/4 cup of lemon juice OR juice from one lemon and cut up rind

Cook the baking dish with water and lemon mixture for 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the level of grossness.  This will loosen up all the baked on ickiness and gunk.

Think Volcano to Break Up Oven Build Up
Turn the oven off and let it cool down to where you don't burn yourself.  Now comes the super fun part.  Think about the volcano explosion caused from mixing vinegar and baking soda.

Baking Soda and Vinegar Recipe

First spray down the entire oven with vinegar.  Now toss baking soda everywhere.  To really get it all mixed up spray down the entire oven again with the vinegar.  Strangely enough I find all the fizzing and bubbling extremely satisfying.  Almost as much fun as popping bubble wrap!

Scrub, Scrub, Scrub
Let this simple oven cleaning recipe sit for 30 minutes.

Now get to scrubbing.

For the really caked on areas reapply the recipe and then scrape with the tip of a butter knife.

Your oven will not look perfect but perfection is not the goal.

Clean Oven Lid
You won't ever need to purchase a commercial oven cleaning mixture.  Oven cleaning is not a fun project but using what you have already stocked in your pantry to make a useful household cleaning recipe is fabulous!  Not to mention it costs just pennies and you know how much I love thriftiness!!

Much Scrubby Love-Jessie
