Post Office Blue Desk

Craigslist is a magical place for junkers.  One minute you are searching for quirky treasures and the next second you've got the fire burning in your veins to tear through town to pick up a fantastic find before anyone else beats you to it.  That was this little desk.

Posted was this desk and it just so happened to be in my neighborhood of NE Portland, double score! I raced home to pick up a big enough rig and then raced back.  Not only was it still there but the lady helped me load it into my rig!

The story goes that this desk belonged to her grandmother back in the '40s but has been neglected and no one has room for it anymore.  I reassured her that it would be very well loved and reimagined into something wonderful.  You could tell she was reluctant to get rid of it because she had been holding onto it for so long but the smile on her face said knew it was time to let go because she was never going to do anything with it.

Surprisingly it is in very sound condition.  Of course there were deep scratches all over but structurally I couldn't have asked for a better piece.  There was a part of me that wanted to sand it down and destain it but the amount of sanding to level out the wood left me withered just thinking about it.

Out comes the Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Flow Blue.  I think this is like the second blue desk I have done this season.  Completely unplanned but apparently my squirrel brain believes desks should be blue.  Kind of like the fairy godmother, Merryweather in Sleeping Beauty who keeps changing Sleeping Beauty's dress from pink to blue.  Apparently I am Merryweather, "Now make it blue"!
